      Airport Varna - the third largest airport in Bulgaria. It is situated 10 kilometers from the center of Varna, near the town of Aksakov.

      History of Varna airport began in 1916. Non-scheduled flights between Varna and Sofia began to be implemented in 1919 - 1920 years, and the first regular flight appeared only in 1947. The decision to build a new airport was taken in 1946. Construction continued almost 30 years. In 1972, the terminal was built, and in 1974 - the runway.

      Currently, passenger Varna airport has increased significantly, which is associated with the development of the tourism industry in Bulgaria. This has led to the need for expansion and modernization of the airport.

      Since October 15, 2011 to February 28, 2012 Varna airport closed for reconstruction of the runway. Work is also underway to build a new passenger terminal.
